Joy Bong Thai Restaurant & Bar is a perfect central Auckland city venue for all size and style Christmas parties.
Joy Bong can be split into four separate sections, these sections can be tailored to your function requirements.

The Joy Bong Lounge Bar
The Joy Bong Lounge Bar features a large fireplace, large lounge areas and copper finishing's. Available for all size functions with a capacity of up to 50 people.
Large platters and light finger food menus can be tailored to your requirements.
We have DJ decks available if you wish to provide your own music, or we have a number of DJs that we can recommend.
The Joy Bong Restaurant
The Joy Bong Restaurant can seat up to 80 people. Our largest tables seat 25 people, we also have 4 large circular booths which seat 6 people each. For large parties we recommend our Thai Banquets.

Q. Is there a hire charge?
A. There is no hire charge for functions in the Bar, or seated groups.
Q. Do I have to pay a down payment?
A. For hire of the bar or exclusive hire of the entire venue we require a 20% deposit paid a week in advance to secure the booking.
Q. Do we cater for special dietary requirements?
A. Yes, if given notice we can tailor all of our menus to suit - however allergens such as peanuts, soy and chilli are present in our kitchen; we will do our best but cannot guarantee that any dish is 100% allergen free. For full details please check the Allergies section of our menu.
Q. Is food available in the bar?
A. Yes, we have a very popular bar snack menu, or our finger food menu is available for onsite functions in the Joy Bong bar or offsite function catering. The menu is a fusion of traditional Thai food with modern European influences. For full details please check the finger food function menu.
Q. What is the capacity of the venue?
A. The venue capacity varies dependent on the section you are booking.
- Bar = 60 standing
- Restaurant = 80 dining
- Entire Venue = 100 dining, 200 cocktail party
Q. Can I put up decorations?
A. Yes, within the area you have booked as long as they are not offensive.
Q. What parking is available?
A. Generally in the evenings there is free on-street parking around the area after 6pm. There is also a pay & display car park directly across K'Rd.
Q. Are we BYO
A. No, we are fully licensed.
Q. What music facilities are available?
A. There are DJ decks which are available for use within the bar. We recommend that DJ's visit site prior to the event. We have some regular DJ's that we can recommend, and can also recommend partners for the supply of additional sound, lighting and projection equipment.
Q. Can I plug in my iPod?
There are facilities and cables to plug in iPods, Laptops, etc. We recommend that you check your equipment can be connected to our systems prior to the event.
The restaurant and bar sound systems cannot be separated, this means that the music selection must be agreed with restaurant management and the volume must be maintained at a reasonable level during restaurant dining hours (up to 10:30pm) - after this time volumes and music selection can be at the discretion of the party host.
Q. Do you have private rooms?
A. No, Joy Bong can be split into four separate sections but each section is not private and may have other customers walking through the section from the main entrance or to visit the bar and bathrooms. However, we can book out each section for your party. With enough notice the entire Joy Bong venue can be booked exclusively in the evenings or during the day.
